Tony Pidgley CBE
Tony Pidgley CBE, Trustee Sir Simon Milton Foundation
(1947 - 2020)
I was desperately sad to hear the news of the untimely demise of Tony Pidgley on Friday 26th June. Tony was a Trustee of the Sir Simon Milton Foundation from the very early days and from my first day at the Foundation he always had time to guide me, advise me and help me along the way.
Despite being incredibly busy in his other lives, he devoted himself to the work of the Foundation. He was generous in every possible sense. He was wise and thoughtful as a Trustee and he was authoritative on the sub-committees on which he served. Everybody listened when Tony expressed his view. I will personally never forget his happiness at seeing the delighted reaction to the hampers he helped to deliver in person to some of the most lonely and isolated citizens of Westminster at Christmas time, a programme which has been primarily funded by generous grants from the Berkeley Foundation, of which he was also a Trustee. He was also a passionate supporter in particular of our national day for older people, Silver Sunday.
The Sir Simon Milton Foundation has lost a much loved and valued friend. We shall miss him in so many ways and our thoughts reach out to Sarah and his family, who I know meant everything to him. On behalf of all of the Trustees of the Foundation, we send Sarah and his family our deepest condolences.
