A Terrific Tea Dance 2018
This year the Sir Simon Milton Foundation hosted its annual Tea Dance in Westminster for 1,000 local residents on Sunday 9th December and once again the Great Hall in The Grosvenor House Hotel was abuzz with conversation, music, entertainment and dancing accompanied by delicious cakes and tea.
For many this is becoming a festive favourite with 58% of guests last year saying they do not often have the chance to go out and 86% saying they made new friends at the tea dance. The event is entirely free to guests with generous funding from sponsors, a wonderful team of volunteers including MPS Volunteer Police Cadets aged 13-18 who help guests to their seats, encourage them to join them on the dance floor and fill the room with happiness.
You can watch our video here. Thanks to the children and adults from DanceWorks Ballet Academy for two stunning performances of The Nutcracker Suite, local singer and Silver Sunday favourite Lucy Clark for some festive tunes, local award-winning dancer Rashmi Becker and partners Gonzalo Ferro and Michael Jagger for their Argentine Tango and Charleston, a rousing speech from our guest of honour Rt. Hon. Baroness Betty Boothroyd as well as Tea Dance favourites the Red Stripe Band for filling our dance floor to full capacity!
We are very grateful to all our supporters: Shaftesbury Plc, The Telegraph Media Group, Westminster Council, Ricoh, JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel for their generosity in bringing joy to so many of our local residents in the run up to Christmas.
